His Place Christian Fellowship
Membership Commitment
Having received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, and having
been baptized as a witness of my transformed life, and being
in agreement with His Place Christian Fellowship’s statements
of purpose and structure, I unite myself with the family of
His Place Christian Fellowship in this commitment. In doing
so, I commit myself to God and to the family of the church
in the following:
1. I will protect the unity of our
church ...
by acting in love toward other people
of the church ...
by refusing to gossip ...
by following the elders and leaders as Jesus directs them
Let us therefore make every effort
to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. (Romans
14:19 NIV)
Now that you have purified yourselves
by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for
your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart.
(1 Peter 1:22 NIV)
Do not let any unwholesome talk
come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for
building others up according to their needs, that it may
benefit those who listen. (Ephesians 4:29 NIV)
Obey your leaders and submit to
their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must
give an account. Obey them so that their work will be
a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage
to you. (Hebrews 13:17 NIV)
2. I will participate in the responsibilities
of my church ...
by praying regularly for our church’s
growth and maturity ...
by financially supporting the church ...
by inviting non-believers and those who have fallen away
to church gatherings ...
by warmly welcoming visitors and building friendships ...
by being involved in home groups, study classes, or other
fellowship events
We always thank God for all of you,
mentioning you in our prayers. (1Thessalonians 1:2 NIV)
Each man should give what he has
decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under
compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians
9:7 NIV)
Then the master told his servant,
“Go out to the roads and country lanes and make
them come in, so that my house will be full.” (Luke
14:23 NIV)
Accept one another, then, just as
Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.
(Romans 15:7 NIV)
Every day they continued to meet
together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their
homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts...
(Acts 2:46 NIV)
3. I will serve the ministry of my
church ...
by discovering my gifts and talents
...
by being equipped to serve by the church’s leadership
...
by developing a servant’s heart ...
by pursuing God’s individual purpose for me in my
generation
So it is with you. Since you are
eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that
build up the church. (1 Corinthians 14:12 NIV)
Each one should use whatever gift
he has received to serve others, faithfully administering
God's grace in its various forms. (1 Peter 4:10 NIV)
It was he [Jesus] who gave some
to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists,
and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's
people for works of service, so that the body of Christ
may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith
and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature,
attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
(Ephesians 4:11-13 NIV)
Do nothing out of selfish ambition
or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better
than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your
own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your
attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who,
being in very nature God, did not consider equality with
God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human
likeness. (Philippians 2:3-7 NIV)
For we are God's workmanship, created
in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in
advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10 NIV)
4. I will support the testimony of
my church ...
by attending corporate worship faithfully
...
by living a godly life
Let us not give up meeting together,
as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage
one another --and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
(Hebrews 10:25 NIV)
Whatever happens, conduct yourselves
in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether
I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence,
I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending
as one man for the faith of the gospel. (Philippians 1:27
NIV)
I make this commitement with the
head of the church, Jesus Christ, and with His church. |
